Frequently Asked Questions

Find out more about the yogahaven 200hr Online Yoga Teacher Training Here!

What level of yoga do I need to be before I start online yoga teacher training?

We advise that you have had a regular yoga practice for a minimum of two years, but there is absolutely no requirement to be able to do a headstand or crow pose! Try to mix in different styles of classes too as knowing the difference between a flow class and a restorative class will really help your understanding when we come to learn how to sequence your own classes.

What style of yoga is the online teacher training?

We’ll teach you a signature yogahaven Vinyasa yoga sequence that is an hour and a half long in total. Once you graduate, you’ll be able to tweak the sequence and what you’ve learned to deliver a gentle hatha practice or an energising dynamic flow. Plus, we’ll teach you the principles of sequencing (like when to follow a backbend with a forward fold) so you can create your own yoga classes too.

Do I need to prepare anything before I start the Online course?

You’ll receive our yogahaven Teacher Training manual in the post once you sign up for the online course. It contains breakdowns of how to teach different yoga poses, the 1.5 hour class sequence that you’ll eventually learn to teach, and so much more. You don’t have to read it cover to cover, just flip amongst the pages and refer across different sections as you work through the online modules on our video platform.

What books are on the yogahaven Online Yoga Teacher Training essential reading list?

How Yoga Works and The Bhagavad Gita will be on your recommended reading list. We recommend that you start reading the Yoga Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita as soon as you can to give you lots of time to get your teeth into these important texts. We also encourage watching video summaries of these texts to help support your knowledge of the context and themes – this will all ultimately enhance your yoga teacher training experience.

Is this an accredited course?

Yes, You'll be an RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher)
on successful completion of the 200hr course with yogahaven, and accredited as an international 200hr yoga teacher. After completing the training, our students can use the letters RYT and also enjoy discounted yoga insurance through yogahaven. We are also supporters of the Independent Yoga Network (a similar company to Yoga Alliance which aligns with our core values and beliefs) if you would like to register with them too. Once you are certified from the yogahaven Online Yoga Teacher Training course, you are then free to teach yoga!

What subjects will we cover on the online video platform?

We will cover Asana, Pranayama, Kriya, Chanting, Mantra and Meditation, as well as teaching principles and the business aspects of making money as a new yoga teacher. Our 200hr Online Yoga Teacher Training also focuses on practical anatomy and physiology, the subtle anatomy of Chakras and Nadis – and of course the study of yoga philosophies. How to practice yoga both ‘on and off the mat’ is integral to our teachings for yogahaven students, and you’ll be surprised by how much you can apply to your everyday life following yoga teacher training.

How is the 200 hour online yoga teacher training course different from studying in-person?

Our in-person yoga teacher training courses start on specific dates over a series of weekend workshops in London and Brighton, whereas you can start studying the yogahaven online course anytime from the comfort of your own home.

Will there be tests?

There are mini fun quizzes at the end of each of our online sections to check on your progress. They are nothing to worry about, and can be repeated as much as you need.

How will we be assessed on the online yoga teacher training course?

Alongside the short quizzes, we will ask you to film a short video teaching part of the set yogahaven class sequence. We’ll then give some helpful feedback, to which you can then send in another video that’s completely set up for success.

Do I have to become a yoga teacher once I finish the course?

Not at all! Did you know that many of our Alumni came to our teacher training to deepen their practice and knowledge of yoga, and not because they even wanted to teach yoga themselves. However many do go on to teach despite what they thought initially – but starting with teacher training is an incredible way to dive deeper into the practice, far past just the physical asanas and poses we do in a typical class.

Can I speak with a tutor before starting the course?

Of course! We know that starting yoga teacher training is a big investment, and the cheapest courses available are mostly low quality whilst on other hand, some are very overpriced for what you get, especially in London.

It’s important that you can talk to your tutors and ask what you get in return for the money you invest and make sure you feel comfortable with the response.

Please feel free to drop Allie an email at allie@teachingyoga.co.uk with any questions you may have. Worried about studying whilst looking after a little one? Concerned about whether you are suited to an online course itself? Allie has trained thousands of students and will have an answer for you!
